THE DNA OF COACHING

Deep listening and good questions are the backbone of great coaching. Being open to influence, agility and clarity support the process. We cannot objectively do this for ourselves. Coaching increases awareness through reflection, so people have insights that drive action to better themselves. Re-energized through the coaching process, leaders re-focus efforts toward positive possibilities that accelerate desired results.

HOW AM I UNIQUELY SKILLED TO SUPPORT YOU AS A COACH?

Working with engineers in startups has been my work for the past 25 years. Some talked past each other. Some don’t talk much. As a presence-based coach, I ask the questions that draw innovators and HR executives toward mutual trust and creativity, unlocking growth and camaraderie. Conversations lead teams to think from a completely new angle, creating space to stop analyzing and start seeing challenges and uncertainties through a lens of possibility.

HOW AM I UNIQUELY SKILLED TO SUPPORT YOUR TEAMS?

Working with engineers in startups has been my work for the past 25 years. Some talked past each other. Some don’t talk much. As a presence-based coach, I ask the questions that draw innovators and ultra- high achievers toward mutual trust and creativity, unlocking growth and camaraderie within and between teams. Conversations lead teams to think from a completely new angle, creating space to stop analyzing and start seeing challenges and uncertainties through a lens of possibility.

“I've been in OD for nearly 20 years, but my socks were literally blown away while attending Deb Shannon's recent session on Conversational Intelligence®. Deb shared her deep-seeded knowledge of both the science and emotional building blocks of conversation in a manner that was impactful and approachable, with a plethora of helpful content. The exercises that Deb devised as part of the experiential learning segment were so meaningful, I found myself thinking of all of the leaders that I wanted to share this new information with immediately! I would highly recommend Deb as an engaging subject matter expert to all organizations.”

I was at a crossroads, both professionally and personally. Deb was the perfect fit for me to move forward.  I am a physician and there are physician-coaches who help physicians find new careers outside of clinical medicine.  However, after talking with different coaches, I found Deb was the best fit.  Deb asked me deep thoughtful questions, and engaged with me as a professional, not just a physician.

When I started working with Deb, I was ready to stop practicing clinical medicine, and specifically stop working in academic medicine.  Deb helped me organize my career goals and accomplishments so I could move forward with next professional steps.  Deb’s thoughts and questions helped prepare me for interviews in different medical sectors.   In the end I am thrilled to return to academic medicine but with different insight and goals.  Working with a non-physician coach was incredibly valuable to me.
